Invited to participate are former Major League Stars, Tony Piet, Ray Schalk, Urban Feber, and Dizzy Trout. From semi-pro and Negro American League teams will be Bingo DeMoss, Bobby Anderson, Rube Currie, John Donaldson, George Bennett, T. H. Jefferson, Sandy Thompson, Joe Green and many more.
There will be several former Negro league players cited during ceremonies. Among those to receive citations will be Joe Green, perhaps oldest of the players who will participate. The citations will be for their individual contributions to baseball in the Negro leagues.
There will be celebrities participating from other sports. Judge Fred "duke" Slater, former All-American football player and later a star with the Chicago Cardinals in the NFL will present the awards. The following will also be present, Joe Robichaux, member of the Illinois Boxing Commission, and director of the Mayor Daley Youth Foundation Track activities, and Dr. J. B. Martin, former President American Negro League.
This part of the program will give the "Classic" a sports celebrity touch but there will be other activities to interest fans that night. Such "extras" as fireworks display and the clowning demonstrations by the Indianapolis Clowns team. The fireworks display will take place after the game, which explains the promoters plea to fans to come early and be prepared to remain after the game. Eddie Plicque well known M.C. will handle the mike for field ceremony prior to the ball game.
