POUND THREE PITCHERS HARD
NOT A VISITOR REACHES SECOND BASE AND ONLY TWO ARRIVE SAFELY AT THE FIRST STATION.
(From Tuesday's Daily.)

The All Nations team of ball players failed to live up to its reputation that had preceded it and was ingloriously defeated by the Fremont leaguers at Association lot yesterday afternoon by the score of 14 to 0.
Not a visitor got past first base and only two of them reached that station.
Hinkley, who twirled the first five innings for the winners, pitched gilt edge ball allowing no hits while he was officiating and struck out seven of the visitors. Thiessen, who went in for the last half of the session, was almost as stingy with his hits. Donaldson, the much touted wonder with the All Nations team, got a single in the seventh but it amounted to nothing, the other batters being easy outs and the colored wonder died at the first station.
Crouch started the twirling for the visitors and after he had been touched for four hits and hit two batsmen, which netted six scores, he was yanked and Dunbar took his place. He officiated for three innings and made a rather creditable showing, the leaguers totaling two runs and three hits off his delivery in the three innings that he worked. Donaldson, the colored pitcher, who fanned twenty-eight of the Storz Triumphs at Omaha in a twelve-inning game Sunday, was sent in by the management at the request of a number of fans. The Pathfinders took rather kindly to his offerings and pounded out three hits which, coupled with three errors, were good for three tallies. He plainly showed the effects of the work the day previous and did not attempt to put much on the ball. Thiessen, the first man to face him, was sent back to the bench on three strikes.
The local boys played a good fielding game, having only one misplay marked up against them. Bohner, Wetzel and Welch were the heavy manipulators of the willow. The detailed score is as follows:

The Fremont, Nebraska Pathfinders were a good team at the time of this early season game. The Pathfinders won the Nebraska State League Championship in 1910 and 1912, came in second in 1912, but the 1913 season was a tough one for them, fiscally and meteorologically. Rain caused a lot of game cancellations and postponements in 1913. The franchise went $500 into the red, and was moved to Norfolk, Nebraska the next year.
As for the pitchers of this game, Harold Hinkley and Thiessen, who went head-to-head with Dunbar and John Donaldson? Harold Hinkley was an 18-year-old rookie, and pitched a no-hitter against Beatrice on July 27. The final was 12-0. He went 14-12 for the year. When the Pathfinders moved to Norfolk, Nebraska, it appears that Harold Hinkley did not follow the team there. It is notable for our research purposes that only one player got a hit off of Hinkley, ruining his chances for a no-hitter, and it came from John Donaldson.
Thiessen pitched in 10 games this year, and went 4-6. In this game, he pitched the last few innings. He was the first batter to face Donaldson this day, and struck out.
