The article reads:
If "Three-Hit" Jackson can throw hand grenades as good as he can pitch ball, it will be all off with the
Germans when he lands in the trenches somewhere in France. To celebrate his enlistment in the Hiawatha company, "Three-Hit" yesterday hurled one of the greatest games of his career. he put off the strong All-Nations, a traveling aggregation, with only three hits, the Heheinkaempers winning by the score of 2 to 1. The one run made off him was unearned. Those who attended the game at Forest park yesterday are very enthusiastic today. Pat Wycoff's Hekeinkaempers put up a splended contest; they played as snappy and as aggressive a game as has been seen at the park in years. The contest was a pitching duel lit up with sparkling plays in nearly every inning. Barnes, brother of the Barnes of the Boston Nationals, hurled for the All-Nations. he struck out the first 10 men who faced him and for a time the fans thought the Heck would be lucky if they so much as secured a foul off him. Both of the Hecks runs were earned. In the fifth Vandiver beat out a hunt; Clem singled and Sego singled. In the last half of the ninth Clem doubled; Sego singled and Frailey then smote himself a safe one. The Hecks are playing the ball; they deserve the increasing patronage they are receiving. The Atchison Hekeinkaempers, who have made a vigorous bid for popular favor last Sunday by defeating the
All-Nations, will engage the Western Tablet Company team, St. Joe, at Forest park, Sunday. The Tablets have been playing
wonderful ball this season and the game Sunday ought to be a good one. The Hecks are displaying real class and deserve an
outpouring of the fans - if it doesn't rain.
